2001 Audi A4 2.8 will not shift out of park. We replaced the heater coil and associated hoses and had to remove the entire dash/console, including the steering column. Any suggestions?

Have you checked the neutral safety switch?It unlock,s the shifter.

It is located under dash,link switch to the break pedal,when you mash break,sensor releases the shifter.

I agree it cranks,but there is a shifter pin,in the shifter,it is released by the park saftey switch,other word,s neutral safety switch.you alway,s have to mash the break before the pedal will let you shift.
