Running on starter fluid confirms you have spark. The problem has to be fuel. So listen for your fuel pump to hum/buzz when turning key to on, but do not crank engine while you listen. If no sound, check your pump fuse and pump relay. However, if the pump does run, then check the fuel filter and/or fuel pressure at the fuel rail at the engine/injectors. That should find the problem.

I should mention: your truck has three fuse boxes. Go to the one under the hood, located near the brake fluid reservoir. Your fuel pump fuse is labeled "IGN/C". Your fuel pump relay is labeled "F/PMP". Check/replace. If all the electrical tests okay, the pump must be bad.
