Maintenance after being garaged

Asked by ardnerc Dec 03, 2012 at 12:22 PM about the 2000 Audi A4 1.8T Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My son took a job out of town.  Instead of lasting 6 months, it has lasted 3 years.  His 2000 A4 has been garaged for all this time with almost no driving.  What service/maintenance should be done to the car after sitting all this time?  Thanks.

Cars don't like sitting for years. Seals dry out, tires rot, brake lines rust, mice chew the wires, etc. Check all the belts, change all the fluids and filters, air up the tires, drain the old gas, add Sta-Bul and fresh gas. then go slow. Check the reservoirs and check for leaks.
