Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently ran my jeep into a ditch and messed up the rear tailgate. Is it still legal
to drive without the tailgate attached as long as I mount the license plate?

Yes, as long as the license plate is attached and the license plate has the required lighting. The tag must be securely attached in the correct orientation (not upside down or sideways).

I agree with F_O_R. If you are talking about the rear lift gate then you'll suck exhaust fumes into the cabin. Not safe.
