A4 B5 SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVIND

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Hello everyone. I have an Audi A4 B5 1,6 and the
car keeps shutting down randomly while driving.
Then it will not start right away but it takes several
times until it finally starts. For example i will try to
turn it on and fail for 10 time and then the 11th
time it will start just fine. Also i have noticed that
the problem appears mainly when i have already
driven the car and it is hot. Already cleaned the
gass butterfly and the rpm sensor. Also no code is
shown on the diagnostic. Any suggestions please?
Thank you in advance .

It dies suddenly. One time when it happened i noticed that when i hit the gass pedal the car did not respond until it just died. Also died when it was on idle and i press the gass pedal inreasing the revs, when i lift of the pedal it died.

Sounds like your fuel pump is going out. After the vehicle dies, leave the ignition in on position. Then go put your ear near the fuel tank or open the fuel tank cap and put your ear near the fuel filler. You should hear a whirring. If you dont then your pump is bad. Or you might need to replace the fuel pump relay.
I forgot to mention that the fuel pump was also checked by my mechanic and it was ok. I changed the pump a year ago.I dont know about the relay though. The issue is that the problem cannot be spotted since it is not a permanent problem but only occurs when you drive the car for a while. Could it be the crankshaft position sensor or the air mass flow sensor ?

Could be MAF. I knew a guy with an older Audi. His MAF was bad but it didnt shut off while driving. Mostly just unresponsive. Its worth a look. I dont know about the crankshaft sensor. Dont have a whole lot of expierence with those.
