can't open rear hatch on my 1995 jeep grand cherokee.

I can here the lock opening and closing. Tried key in both pos. left seams locked turn key
right sounds like it's open (unlocked).tried to remove plastic trim on inside but I afraid of
breaking something plastic. Do you have a better idea of how to get it open?

I sprayed WD40 on the latch from the inside. My hatch opened afterwards.
