Jeep Grand Cherokee keeps turning off after 20 minutes of driving and won't turn back on till a couple of hours later. Any idea? Please help.

Asked by Untouchable8434 Oct 30, 2017 at 05:28 PM about the 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have replaced multiple items on my 1996 Grand
Cherokee Jeep including
Valve cover
Fuel filter
Fuel pump
Ignition coil
Alternator
Crank sensor
Distributor cap and plate
And still stalls on me after 20 minutes of driving.
Will not turn on until after a couple of hours of
sitting. Does not over heat. Just shuts off and
won't crank over. Any idea or input will be helpful.
Thanks

you will need a mechanic who has a scan tool that will read live data. This means that he will hook it up and run the vehicle. the test will show what is failing.

Did you ever figure out what was wrong? I have a similar issue and no mechanic has been able to figure it out?

Cracked ignition coil cover which expands with heat of engine and shuts engine off. Once it cools will start.
