Trans mission and showing gears?

So my trans seems like it is missing and or
slipping. And when it hits sometimes it hits hard. I
looked under my trans and saw that i could see
some gears inside of my trans and was wondering
if that is normal or not. I mean i am assuming not,
but i figured i would ask before trying to tinker with
it.

what do you mean you can see gears. you mean metal shavings inside trans fluid. did you remove the trans pan and observe this? low or old fluid can cause slipping and hard shifting.
I mean when i get under my suv and crawl to the front of my jeep and look at my trans it seems like there is a plate missing. I am then able to see the bottom making of a gear.
Exposed gears means no lubricant. No lube means the gears self destruct in minutes. I am wondering if you are just seeing the ring gear for the starter so post a photo.
Yea. My trans is shot. I got in it yesterday and it would not shift into reverse. My dad said that its just a mattet of tine before the rest of them go too. We are either going to replace it from a salvage yard or trade the car in for another. Thank yall for yalls help
