I would like to transfer an engine from a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee to a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

i don't know. Does the older engine have a distributor ? And does the newer engine have coil packs. It that's the case. You might be in for some heart breaking awakenings when re-assembling and again when you try to start it for the first time with a check engine light you just can't get to go out
Give it a try if you both motors. Nothing ventured nothing gained ! I would like to hear the out come of the project. I would like to know for future reference
I will surely keep you updated! And you are right! I will never know unless I try! Thanks for the motivation!
It can be done but have to remove the distributor delete stem with the cam sensor mounted on it. Distributor should mount in the location we’re the stem was on the newer engines.
I took a 2.5 liter out of a 1995 Jeep Wrangler and put it into a 2002 wrangler worked fine. But it still had the distributor in the 2002. But the engines were the same bolt patterns for the trans and everything else.
