I was told that my sunroof does not have drain holes because it was an add-on. Is this true? I thought all sunroofs have drains holes but when a mechanic looked for them he said they did not exist because it is an add-on not one that was manufactured with the making of the vehicle. Well, it leaks. Is there anything I can do to stop the leak? I would appreciate any help while I'm getting wet. :-)

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My sunroof leaks. Is there some new seal I can add to stop this? It does not have drain holes, I am told, because it is an add-on type sunroof, not one manufactured when the vehicle was made.  I was told I would have to take it to a body shop and that it could get rather expensive to fix.  Can you offer any suggestions as to what I can do to solve this problem> I would appreciate any help I can get.  I really do not want to seal it shut permanently.

Giggy, Get a second opinion. Have a reputable body shop look at it. Not having drain holes in it just didn't seem right.

There were two mechanics that looked at it. When the 1st one could not find any drain holes after putting the vehicle up on the hoist, a second mechanic was consulted and he looked underneath AND on top with the sunroof open and gave the same opinion. One said it was an after market sunroof, whatever was meant by that.

In the front corners of the sunroof chanel there are 2holes that feed into the front door post. Thin felexstraw tubes run down to the bottom drain exit hole. You can see the straws when you peel back the trim etc at the floir. I found these crap-flex- straws splintered. I am searching for a how-to video to replace them.
