2001 jeep wj 4.0 dead battery all of a sudden

Asked by tbird0u812 Feb 21, 2019 at 12:45 PM about the 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My wife drove it to work 16 miles everything`s fine when she got there, then
she turned it off, tried to use the remote lock and nothing happened so she
got in and there was no electricity at all.I noticed a very high pitched
squealing noise coming from the alternator a few days before but it went
away after it warmed up i am going today to her work with a trailer and a
spare battery to see if i can get it on the trailer to get it home 245,000 miles
so far.I hope many more to come.Is this common symptom on my model and
year of a bad alternator and/or battery?
