Jeep shuts off when temp gauge hits 210 or more. Then radiator overflows.

Asked by CTcynthia Jun 09, 2019 at 01:56 PM about the 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2003 jeep Cherokee
Laredo. Ive changed the
thermostat and the fan relay. Fan
still doesn't turn on. Thinking fan
is shot. And the radiator boils over
when the car overheats. Gets to
210 and then does a clean engine
cut off. No bucking, no warning.
Just off. Turns back on After a
few minutes of cooling down.
What is wrong?

210 is not that hot and it should not boil over if you have the proper antifreeze mixture. Make sure the fan works! Check the fuse and try running power directly to it.
