Do I need a new engine or can I fix it with oil pump?

Asked by JEEPGUY2115 May 05, 2020 at 02:23 AM about the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 inline 6 cylinder
has oil pressure until it get warm then it loses all
pressure and the check gage light comes on. Still
runs and sounds normal with no check engine light.
My regular mechanic says I need a new engine
because it’s knocking but it sounds the same as the
day we bought it. HELP any suggestions?
