Automatic locks and windows don’t work when Driver door is open

Asked by Philip May 18, 2018 at 09:31 AM about the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When the driver door is open. The automatic
windows and locks do not work. If the door is
closed or just barely open so I can just fit my arm in
it will work. Where should I start looking for the
problem?

Open the door and remove the big black rubber grommet between the car and the door. There are two wires, I believe a blue and black wire that may have been disconnected somehow. Same thing happened to mine and I was able to find where the wires came apart, reconnected them and now everything works fine. Had the same issue where the power windows and door locks wouldn't work. Good luck!
