Transmission is skipping, has anyone heard if car sat one year that water pools up in transmission causing it to slip

No.this is not normal,in gas yes,but tranny no,the only way,s water get,s in tranny is flooding car under water,some one put it in there,or coolant line,s froze and and ruptured the tranny cooler.
