HOW TO STOP A FLASHING O/D LIGHT ON 1999 LINCOLN TOWN CAR.?UNABLE TO STOP IT FROM FLASHING WITH GEAR SHIFT

I HAD NO PRIOR PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION IN THIS CAR, WAS WORKING ON HORN, MOVED A COUPLE FUSES UNDER THE HOOD, PUT THEM EXACTLY BACK IN THERE LOCATION. STARTED THE CAR AND DROVE IT, THE SHIFTING WAS OFF AND THE O/D LIGHT W STARTED TO FLASH.

I had the same problem. It is a transmission problem, but don't get all worked up like I did about potential repair costs. The transmission just needs to be flushed and the filter replaced. My cost was only $225. It now runs and shits better then it ever did. No more shaking when shifting, car runs solid. I am fortunate in that my mechanic recommended a honest transmission guy.
