Dashboard goes blank and speedometer stops working

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I posted this on Friday and this morning it was gone!  This issue started a
few weeks ago.  Randomly, when starting the car, the date will be blank as
pictured.  Always seems to happen away from home, so I have to drive
home. At random times in my drive, the door lock will activate and the dash
will return to normal as will the speedometer.  In recent months, we replaced
the driver seat motor and a short time later, the battery.  That is the extent
of the work done.  No clue where to start.  Fuses?  Which ones?  Any
suggestions appreciated.

My 2001 does the exact same thing! Drives me crazy. It will go off and then come back on at random times. I have resorted to using an app on my phone so I will know how fast I am going. I hope someone has the answer.

I have noticed that mine has stopped doing this when the weather started getting cooler. It seems to only do it when it is very hot outside.

I have the same thing!! It's been driving me crazy for over 2 years. I did notice that when it was originally happening, the odometer was still keeping the mileage though the display was on the fritz. However, after playing with the trip odometer when first starting the car to see the fuel economy and trip odometer, it stopped progressing. That's what I get for playing with buttons. One site I found advised to replace the transmission speed sensor ($24 Advanceauto.com). Easy enough job, though it did not work for me (as I this I've only just completed the replacement and not cleaned up yet). I think my next step is to replace the ECU (around $90). I also recently started having issues with the ABS activating while braking, but since this this lit up like a Christmas tree as soon as it started happening, I don't know where else to start.

I have a 2006 Lincoln town car limousine and the cluster comes and goes. Everything goes out lights, speed, rpm, gauges. Both Batteries are new and I see no short or loose connections. Anyone find the fix for this yet?

YES!! We finally bit the bullet and put the car into the dealership for repair as we had to renew the tags on the car. It was the ABS Module. We replaced it and the dash is back to normal and we can drive Pearl again!!

Anyone figure this out? I replaced a bad abs/speed sensor that was torn up when my lower ball joint snapped, fixed the ball joint and had no dash the green lines just like in the picture. I have a 2000 Lincoln Town Car anyone resolve the issue without changing the abs module?

I had the same problem with my Lincoln town car 2003 and the problem was the ABS Module. You can find it online and replace it by yourself very easy
