Nothing happens when I press accelerator

Asked by Brian Aug 17, 2014 at 11:59 PM about the 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis 4 Dr GS Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis. The car starts and runs at idle, but I cannot get any
fuel when I press the accelerator. The engine bogs a little bit but nothing happens, it
actually runs smoother at idle.  It had run just fine for the 140 miles prior until I slowed
down and turned off of the interstate.  I am thinking it is probably the fuel filter, but would
like outside input before I start tearing into it (or sending it to the shop)

Well I have a 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis, I'm having the same exact issue. I spoke with the gentleman up the street for my house, he advised me to check the mass air flow sensor. I've already changed out the TPS, and the coil packs. I'll let you know if the air flow sensor works
