My car 98 grand marquis is blowing hot air
even when it's put to cold . It use to blow cold if
battery was taken off but when switched to hot
air it won't switch back to cold ....could this be
the temperature switch or do I need a new
compressor n etc.

Is compressor turning? Look at clutch. Could be the pressure valve. Right out there when you can see it. Wires uplug, it unscrews. Also could be a a/c relay. Automatic climate control? or standard?
Compressor is turning and it has automatic climate control

It's either completely out of freon (hoses will not be cold). If they're cold, then it's the blend door, the dash has to come out, big job.
Compressor is working and hoses are cold but it's still blowing hot air. 2003 grand marquis ls

Your heater blend door is stuck. Common problem, but expensive to fix. Dash has to come out. There are some shortucts through the glove box. Never done it, and I don't want to. Mine's a manual. Time for another car for you? I love my 2002.
