Engine and transmission

Asked by GuruBY9TS Dec 12, 2018 at 11:31 PM about the 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 2 Dr STD Convertible

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I need an engine and transmission for my
1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme
convertible.  What other vehicle can be used
as a donor?  I have a 2003 chevy trail blazer
that I am no longer driving. Can I use the
engine and transmission from it?  ( I am not a
mechanic so i will be relying on a mechanic to
do all the labour)

If a mechanic is being paid to do it you need to find the exact same engine you have now from a similar year or you'll end up spending a fortune adapting things. You have either a 3.1 or a 3.4. Shop carefully and talk to whoever will be doing the work before you buy anything. Changing out an engine is not a small job, even for a mechanic.
