Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2 yes ago got a 5 yr battery, haven't had aNY
trouble. Last Sat was getting on the highway to
drive across town look at my gauges all fine got on
highway looked at gauges see how fast I was
going all gauges were at zero, battery light was on.
Been driving for several yrs with check engine light
on but dnot know what's wrong with it. Radio quit
working about 10 plus yrs ago, air con doesn't work
either. Too car to where I got battery they said they
think it's the fuses under the hood, but can't get to
cover off to see. They don't work on car fuses. Got
the car in 2000, everything worked. Car is a 97
Grand Am SE. Could it be the fuses and does
O'Reilly work on that?

If battery light is on nine times out of ten it is the alternator that is bad as far as the check engine light needs to be connected to code reader to tell why light is on.
