Transmission grabbing and slipping

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2000 Grand Am GT 3.4L that seems to grab and slip at around
40-70mph when i try to increase power. It's hard to diagnose because i
have no other issues, (fluid looks good, shifts good) but it's only at around
highway speeds that i got this issue. Some people think it's the torque
converter, others say it's a clutch patch, or solenoid but i'm not getting a
straight answer, so i can't figure out how much this may cost me.

I do have the front left wheel bearings going out as well (the ABS/ETS light
is on saying that hub assembly is going out) and i'm getting a humming
noise from that area, gets a bit louder at around 40mph+ so i don't know if
this is related to my problem mimicking a transmission problem. I only got
99,000 miles on the car,  a lot of city driving which could cause
transmission issues but again, shifting is fine (slightly noticeable, but
considering the age..) i'm not sure why the top gear would have all the
issues.

Oh, it goes away after i let off the gas (usually once i notice it grabbing i let off the gas) for a couple of seconds and then it's ok.

Ok, it's not a huge issue right now as it only does it once in a while and letting off on the gas for a second gets it to work. If by any means it starts to be a regular occurrence (where it would trip a code) or where it impedes my ability to accelerate/drive i might consider a replacement trans or see how much it'll cost at the local shop (which may be under that $2-3k), in any case i'll have them check it out to make sure it's not something simple. And it's not so much of a slipping feeling but more of a grabbing feel like something is sticking and letting go, maybe slipping wasn't the best word as the car would slightly feel like it's braking and releasing momentarily. That's why i mentioned the hub assembly/bearings (the ABS/ETS is offline too) so i guess i'll just have to replace that to make sure it's not grabbing the wheels any.

I did want to mention too that this problem only occurred after the hub assembly caused the ABS/ETS lights to come on.
