03 Pontiac grand am se suddenly stopped working

Asked by Filameana Mar 19, 2023 at 07:02 AM about the 2003 Pontiac Grand Am GT

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 03 Pontiac grand am SE that's decided to
completely stop running while driving 80 mph on
the Pennsylvania turnpike. Prior to that ( maybe
convenience) I had $15.00 in gas put in the gas
tank about 3 miles later the car stalled while
driving. I didn't think much other then have it looked
at by a garage later but another 5 miles on the
turnpike the car just stopped dead and now will
not turn over as far as I can tell there's no sound
coming from the fuel pump. until a few weeks ago
besides the anti theft system I have had no
problems.   Any suggestions? Thank you

Lol I wish it was as easy as running out of fuel. Thing is I had a full tank. Well changed the fuel pump..not the problem

The clue here is "besides the anti theft system". If the PCM (computer) loses the fuel enable signal from the BCM the engine will shut down, even when driving. If this is what has happened the service engine soon light will NOT come on BUT there will be a code stored in the computer. So scan the computer for trouble codes and see if that's what has happened. Hope that helps! Jim
