Ignition stuck in "on" position

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1992 Pontiac Grand Prix
and one evening I went to turn off
my car to pump gas and the key
wouldn't turn off. It turns forward
to start the engine but that's it. I
ordered a new ignition switch with
keys but I can't get the old one
out! I've read how there is a hole
to stick a straw or whatever but I
can't find anything like that on
mine. I can't even get the column
cover off. All I could do was
remove the gear shift and cover.
