Should be around a couple of bucks unless it has a chip.

Damn MINI key has three transmitters on it and is $700.00 and you have to bring the car in...which if you've dropped your key down the sewer is a tow-in.
wow bob! just like my camaro. i miss having an older car around.. much simpler.
For a 1999 Grand prix it cost this much? Highly doubt it, IF you know where to look. If you've lost all your keys your pretty much screwed BUT if you go to GM dealer with title and registration and VIN number, they have the cut of your key on record by VIN number they will charge $40 for the key and $20 to look up the cut of the key. Otherwise if it has a chip and you have spare key you can read the resistance of the chip with a multimeter yourself or go to the dealer and ask them to read the key and they will tell the code for free. If you don't have a chip any hardware store should suffice for a new key cut for $2
