Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently lost my only set of original keys for my pontiac grand prix 2001.I made a copy of the original but at the time wasn't aware that a chip needed to be placed in the key.I got a copy of the key from the dealership but didn't have them program it to my car.I was informed by a friend that it's possible to re program my car with the key.I heard that it's called "re-learn"? Is this true at all?and if so how does it work? Also is there way i can get the code to my car with my title or vin number?

your vin # should be sufficient to get codes from dealership or g.m.

this should not be a problem with key you have if it just blinks on and goes right out ,no problem.
