If you are talking about removing the pulley to replace due to a bad bearing you are better off just buying the pulley assembly. getting the pulley of of the tensioner is a big pain in the rear. If I remember correct the bolt for that is a reverse style bolt and it will take some heat to get it to brake loose. Good luck I hope this helps. ( if you were talking about removing the pulley all together, Don't. It is the only thing that will let you get your belt on or off. I have removed AC units and used a shorter belt before but you have to have the tension pulley to allow the belt to go on. )
it is best to change the tentioner instead of just the pulley especially when you have a ten yr old car .
remove the belt znd the tensioner will come off with a couple bolts, you cam get the whole assembly
