Why does the #2 cooling fan on my 2003 Grand Prix (3.8) start running when I shut off the car?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I turn off my car, cooling fan #2 starts running and will continue to run until the
battery dies. I've disconnected the battery (to save it from draining) and as soon as I
reconnect it, the fan starts running again without ever starting the car (even if it's been
sitting unused for days). Any suggestions would be helpful.
