Why won't it start

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I replaced the automatic transmission in my 99 Subaru Forester and now it
won't start. The starter cranks ok. The coil pack is producing fire to the plugs.
The fuel pump is delivering gas to the injectors. Still won't start. What could
possibly be wrong?

check for pinched wires in the bell housing and ground straps

I have checked for pinched wires and also reset the security system after reconnecting the battery cable. Checked for blown fuses. All were good. Still won't start.

well if you have fuel fire and air it will start one of them and no start. does it try to start or just turn around? smell of fuel when cranking? maybe fuel to injectors but no volts to fire them ie wiring harness to injectors maybe pulled apart

How did you remove the trans? Just the trans? Engine and trans? If you removed the engine, how did you release the fuel pressure before disconnecting the fuel lines? Did you hit the inertia switch while running to run out the fuel? I'm assuming these have one, anyway. Rhodes has some good info. Keep posting back and/or ask on subaruforester.org
