Headlights cutting out while driving?

Asked by msmusicmaker Sep 12, 2015 at 10:35 PM about the 1999 Subaru Forester L

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I own a '99 Subaru Forester. Lately, I have had a strange issue where my
headlights will cut out for a few seconds after making a right turn (on sharp
turns at intersections or when I crank the wheel to parallel park). I assume
it must be some wiring issue in the steering column? It seems odd that it
only happens when I turn the steering wheel too far to the right. Any
guidance as to whether this would be an easy fix for my handyman father
to do, or whether I need a mechanic?

check if there is a ground on the core support, fender wells it will be a bolt holding wires to the body of the car. that might be loose. with you turning might shift the wires enough to disturb this. the picture is just a example of what they might look like so you can see if you can find the problem
