Can I use a 2004 subaru forester transmission in my 2000 subaru forester ?

I recently received the 2004 transmission when I
was expecting the 2000. I am wondering if I can
still make it work?

It’s been a few years since I looked at the codes on opposedforces but it’ll be close. I think 01-04/05ish have two codes. Not sure on 99-00. Verify with your vin (if necessary) and trans code and model year on opposedforces.
