Using oil,and cant find where.

I have an 01 Forester I purchased used.
The agreement of terms upon purchase was to
have the motor resealed.
Headgaskets,valvecover,intake,waterpump,timing
belt,and exhaust......exc.
It has been a good driving car put 4500 hundred
miles on it after purchase.Drove to Bangor,and
down to the coast.No problems as far as driving
and starting.
I had a crack and a small part of the air filter
assembly missing which caused rough idling.
I've sealed and fixed the problem.
The other issuse is that is used over two quarts of
oil since purchase.Got it when it had 170k
It has 174, and changed at 172,500.
Put Castro Gtx high mileage 10-30.
Since changing oil I have put the 5th at from the
bottle I bought,and yesterday another half quart.
No smoke upon start,no valve cover leaks.
I have a seaping from the pan which was
changed"supposivly", and can see that it was
RTVed, and not sure about new gasket.
See seepage,but drips in driveway, and to me
minor seapage on the pan.
Should I be worried?

And, besides, 170,000 miles on the engine is a lot, could be a lot of wear on your rings and pistons resulting in engine oil consumption from oil burning past the rings. OK, you wrote - "No smoke upon start,no valve cover leaks. I have a seaping from the pan which was changed"supposivly" What about once it's"warmed up"? There's no way to validate all the work you think might have been done. Bottom line, you purchased a 15 year old vehicle, just drive it as far as you can. Just keep up with the oil.. Treat this car as a transportation car around town. I would not leave town with a car in excess of 150,000 miles and that includes any car I own. Good luck.

I've seen the kit that was bought for my car before work was gone and can see the new gaskets installed on the car.

I can't believe that Mark.. all that AAA talk and you won't drive anywhere over 150k? (...and all that CVT 300k talk... haha) pshh.. I drive both of mine anywhere.. my 04 (186k) leaks oil (probably at the oil pump / oil seal / crank seal) and weeps oil from the HG's.. my 03 (176k) weeps coolant from the HG's. Biggest thing is keep an eye on your oil and temp. Just don't overheat it. The biggest thing with leaking from the Pan is.. you gotta clean it really well, clean the entire bottom of the engine and then start it and observe. If it is the pan, I'm pretty sure doing the oil pan is a major pitb in the car. Also, idk how they are on the subaru's, but the oil pan gaskets on the festiva's are notorious leakers.
