Stiffening the ride will make it bounce more so which is it you want a smoother ride or a stiffer suspension?

they have springs ive been thinking to switching to coil overs i like to have a smoother ride

if you want a smoother ride your going to be looking at seting it back closer to factory suspension setings, also wheel and tire size make a big difference in ride quality too. If you are on a low profile tire (ex: 225/35/r18) it is not going to ride as well as a larger profile tire (225/50/r16) because the sidewalls of the tire can't flex as much and wont help in absorbing bumps. Changine to a coilover from the springs, and seting the coilovers to a softer dampening and not siting quite so low will be a definate improvement though.
