2.2L Engine Block Swap years?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2006 Chevy Cobalt 2.2L that I rebuilt the head a few months back
and now I find that the crank is scored, the crankshaft bearings are shot &
the Piston Pin Bushing are shot as well. Which year 2.2L blocks will
interchange with this 2006 as I just want to exchange this complete block
with one that has less miles on it? Pull a part has them for under $200 The
information on the web is unclear of the years that will work!

Try carpart.com and select the option that includes other years and models that will work. Personally I wouldn't bother fixing this vehicle though. It's a 19 year old lower end vehicle. I think your time and money would be better spent shopping for a newer vehicle that doesn't need major repairs. Jim

If you’re going to go that route then you must find an engine that matches the same numbers as your stock engine. So it’s not a year thing but a numbers matching thing. The pick-a-part yard might be able to help.

It looks like a one year only engine. I would find another car because no one has one.
