Probably not well if at all. I think the engines are all the same though, especially if it actually came out of a Cobalt or a Pontiac G5??. In that case you would swap all your electronics onto the new engine so everything will be compatible with the computer. You don't want to start cutting up your wiring harness unless you really know what you're doing.
it did come out of a 2006 cobalt... I an thinking I need to put the original head on the one I am installing... that way everything will plug up ..
And you’re sure it’s a 2.2 and not a 2.0 out of an SS? The 2.0 in my SS has 4 coil packs. Make sure they sold you the right engine.
it was pulled in a salvage yard from a cobalt ss. i seen the car it came from. but they said it was a 2.2. i will have to get the vin # to be sure. i told them when i picked it up that it was a different coil. this motor does have to 4 mounting holes for the coil pack.. He thought it would work to just put mine on it. Looks like he may not have know what he was talking about.i wonder where the engine id # is?
Call a GM dealership with the vin. They can look it up and tell you which engine it has. I believe your car has a 2.2. If the SS was not supercharged it will likely be a 2.4. If it was supercharged it will definitely be a 2.0 LSJ. It’s a big job swapping engines so do your homework to be sure they will interchange. These days I wouldn’t count on it. It’s not a job you want to do twice.
