2006 Cobalt LS 2.2 P0300 rough idle and no acceleration power.

Asked by MikeyG11 Aug 09, 2014 at 12:51 PM about the 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt LS Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So here's the rundown.  My car had
a P0171 running lean code.  I
replaced the Evap Purge Solenoid
and the MAF sensor.  After doing this
I started getting P0300 and P0426
codes.  I replaced the spark plugs,
took apart and cleaned the intake,
took apart and cleaned the throttle
body, and cleaned the fuel injectors(I
used the battery and syringe
method.)

Any thoughts?

I looked it up, I guess there was a fuel injection recall that was supposedly done before I got the car, and my car isn't part of the fuel pump recall, but it has the symptoms but when I brought it in they said I don't need it done?

Again, maybe the fuel pump, but they told me the recall doesn't apply to my car because I'm in Massachusetts.

P0300 and p0426 have one thing in common. Cat converter. Have you checked it?

Your description above rough idle and no acceleration power also sounds possibly like a faulty cat convertor.

I had thought that along the way. I will check it out later on or tomorrow and see what happens. Also not sure if this matters or if it's connected, but everytime I take apart the intake and expose the throttle, the performance improves for a short time afterwards?

Just a thought. Have you cleaned your maf sensor? Also check the wire connections to it.
