Stuck in park

Asked by GuruTBR91 Jun 25, 2018 at 07:34 PM about the 1999 Subaru Legacy Outback Limited 30th Anniversary Wagon AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

MY 1999 Subaru Legacy Outback was stuck in park.  I released it with a screw
driver in the release hole.  What is the fix now on correcting the problem the
right way?

Pretty simple: Pry off the cover bezel and clean out any french fries, raisins, or congealed coke syrup from the actuator that you'll be able to move with your reapplied screwdriver (or finger). Eventually you'll get it clean enough to operate normally.
