What does it mean when i step on the accelorator in my 06 imapla lt and i hear a kinda grinding/ reving noise ?

Mine does the same, I'm pretty sure the tranny is slipping. I've done some researching about it and I guess the transmissions in the 8th gen Impala (06-12) is pretty crappy. Lucas Transmission fluid supposedly should help with slipping but I've yet to try it out in my car, but I will in a few weeks.
