vehicle runs rough after installation of new distributor cap

Asked by Mouse923 Dec 07, 2018 at 04:19 PM about the 1993 Toyota 4Runner 4 Dr SR5 V6 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had a new distributor cap put on my 1993 4Runner (SR5 V6 4WD 5sp) and
ever since, my car runs rough (the mechanic who worked on my vehicle had
forgotten to install the "connector" and my truck wouldn't even start).  He
installed the connector, but I'm wondering if he didn't properly seat or hook
up my distributor cap.  Could that be causing the rough ride and change in
mileage?

Sometimes caps are defective. I would inspect the cap and rotor and replace as needed.
