1997 Toyota sr5 4 runner. Took battery out to be charge put back in now car won't start

Had to take out battery to be charged put it back in and reconnected
terminals horn blared so disconnected the horn . I have headlights but no
dash lights and truck won't start...please help

Did you install the battery backwards with reverse polarity. I sure hope not.
You mean put the negative on the positive ...no didn't do that Or are you talking about something else
Umm maybe she put the battery itself in backwards if so what does that do Now I'm worried
If it was put in backwards it can burn out all kinds of things. And yes I did mean positive to negative.
So if it's hooked up right... do you have any idea why it won't start and has head lights...? Could it be a security system or something

Ok went and had battery checked and it was bad so bought new battery and still it won't start.... it would just make sense that when I hooked up battery after being disconnected and the horn started blaring that it would be an indication that it activated a security feature of some sort but now I have no idea what to do...can anyone help please and thank you in advance.
