i have no spark to the dist cap on my 1994 camry

internal.....only 4 wires on the cap

i pulled a plug and it has compression....and its getting fuel

Would have to be the coil...ballast resistor?...would have to dig into your schematic...but 12VDC isn't getting to the coil?

is the coil inside the dist cap

like a GM one? no it's a separate keilbasa along the firewall~

follow the middle wire comin' out the cap....unless this is some funky-in- between technology only used for a year that I have never heard of~ where's the rotor? distributor has to have a way to distribute...follow the other end of the central wire will lead you to the keilbasa~

where's the coil packs? what is "the cap" capping off? the coil packs? is your igniter the semi-conductor version of the rotor?

no. as I suspected this is a standard ignition system~

It's an le 4 cylinder with 4 plug wires on the dist cap....there are 2 connectors....2 wires going n and 3 coming out......no power to either......no coil wire visable...

could you take a picture repodad? the "cap" which I cannot understand?

One of them is the coil wire. It may appear that there are only 3 coming out, but I promise there are 4, one for each cylinder, and one coil wire going in. you do say there a total of 5, so none are missing. Now OBDII became mandatory 01Jan 1996 so you may have OBDII or The Camry may have been ahead of the game and have the OBDII port that must be within 3 feet of the driver and require no tools to access. Or it may be the flashes and pattern of the CEL light when jumped in the old style port. That is what you need to determine and test. But t~shoes has a very good point...just replace it.

The coil is not inside the distributor cap. The coil wire looks just like a spark plug wire..the coil is a step up transformer that turns the 12V in to 20,000 or 30,000 volts at miniscule amperage to ignite a spark plug

so what was it repodad? a bad ballast resistor and coil? cracked distributor cap, worn or missing rotor? ignition relay?

You guys,coil is on the side of dist inside cap .easy. Why to check Pull the cap off look at the coil you will see a clear coating across the top Look closely and see if there's a crack from one side of coil to the other Mostiture gets in there and shorts the coil out replace it and it schould be ok,xk fuse also there two fuses for ing.one for coil one for cool pickup.easy to check have a great day let me know how or turns out

please check your fuses it is a 30 amp fuse . I did everything I could and it did not start it not have a spark ..I checked the fuses and a 30 amp was blown I put a new one in and it started right up
