THE ENGINE STARTS AND THEN DIES AS IF IGNITION OR FUEL SUPPLY IS CUT DURING STARTING

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
THE CAR STARTS WHEN CRANKED STARTS THEN DIES AFTER 3 TO 5 SECONDS. WHEN CRANKED AGAIN STARTS AND DIES IMMEDIATELY, LATER AFTER SEVERAL CRANKING IT STARTS, THE ENGINE RPM POINTER BEHAVES AS IF THE ENGINE WANTS TO GO OFF THEN PICKS UP AGAIN AND THE ENGINE MAY NOT DIE. THIS OFTEN HAPPEN DURING THE FIRST STARTING IN A DAY AND IT DOES NOT HAPPEN ALWAYS, ONLY OCCASIONALLY.

What engine in this vehicle? Mileage? Any warning lights on or flashing? This sounds like a fuel delivery problem...fuel filter...fuel pump. A fuel system pressure test is required. Could also be a faulty EGR system. Checking the EGR system requires special tools. Unless you are mechanically inclined....best to have a repair shop test these systems.
Sidekick....did you ever resolve the issue with this vehicle?
Thanks .. will chewck with my mechanic ..
I have. 96 Camry Toyota I’m having issues with A/C and when. I have radio on or charger plugged into my car it stutters and dies sometimes I have to put the car in N and ram the gas lightly . But sometimes it runs perfectly any solution that I can do
Upfront....did you ever find a fix for this vehicle?
Have 2012 Avalon 3.5L v6 engine start dies after 2 seconds, replaced crank sensor ,cam , airflow meter same thing. Help please
Any warning lights on or flashing when the engine is running? Go to the rear of the vehicle and smack the bottom of the Fuel Tank with the palm of your hand while someone else attempts a restart. You may have a Fuel Pump issue. Get back with results.

When engine stalls, check the most basic fuel flow, and battery connections first. I had the corroded battery terminal one time which caused the car to stall when I play the radio or turn on the head lights. Stall problem was fixed by cleaning the ground connection. My truck has 220,000 miles and has been sitting in my garage for a year. It begins to stall when it coast into an intersection. The stall gets worse and stalls after starting. It'll run longer if left alone overnight. I suspect all that sitting clogged the fuel filter.
