Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 98 Toyota Camry with 120k miles on it.
Recently, whenever I turn the car on I notice it's
idling at 6-8 hundred rpms. When I tap the gas
pedal it stalls and shuts off. When I try to turn it
back on it turns over for a second then stalls again.
The only thing I've been able to do is once I get it
started I leave it to warm up and no problem. Even
that isn't always working as now it will sometimes
shut off while idling. Any idea what this could be?
Car has a new alternator, new belts, and new
battery.

It may be the intake air control valve or circuit. The IAC lets the engine breath when no throttle is applied.

I found during my research that I could clean the valve and the air intake w stp. Would you recommend that?

You can clean the valve, but beware of spraying carb cleaner into the air intake, MAF sensors can be damaged by the wrong type of cleaner.
