car will not blow hot heat, temp guage does not come up to normal level

fill up your coolant reservoir, half full when cold, run the engine...wait for operating temperature...bout five minutes, the the thermostat will open up, coolant will circulate through the heater core and you should have heat. If it's not opening, or jammed open, it will probably not get to operating temperature. If you gauge is on cool, and never gets to hot, yout t-stat is stuck open. Bet your coolant could use a flush, see if it's still green. Put your new t-stat in (they are cheap about 15) put fresh coolant in and call it skippy!

...or there isn't enough coolant to circulate thru your system...

i too would recommend a thermostat replacement and a cooling system flush

...oh no~ where's the coolant going? to miami for a day trip? hopefully NOT into the engine. please do a pressure test with the stant pressure tester and pump 'er up to 18 wait for the hissing see a split hose or loose hose clamp. replace those problems, keep your fingers crossed that the coolant did not end up going down the tailpipe!
