Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I got a 1998 Toyota Camry LE V6 3.0L. It has 143k
on it now and I'm not sure if the timing belt has ever
been changed. The dealer recommended it to be
changed at 140k miles. Any suggestions? It's a
great car, I've had it since 92k about 4 years.

If your Camry still running fine. I wouldn't change it unless it was giving me problems. Good luck!

Looked up your car, supposedly it has belt not chain and suppose to change at 90,000.It also supposedly has interference engine, which simply means break belt, blow engine. Change the belt asap! Don't take chance. Try googling it see if you see what I saw

Yes that's correct the 98 Camry has a Belt. An yes it's supposed to be changed at 90k

Yea but don't you guys think if it was not changed at 90k, it would have snapped or broken by now? The Camry has 143k on it now. Bought the car at 93K from a mechanic

Tennisshoes right do it now or go back to mechanic u bought from and ask him! Don't take chance. Its like saying just because i never got sick I'm young when your already a senior citizen (like me...lol)
