I have a 2001 Toyota Camry 2.2L 4cyl. I keep hearing a strange noise. Like an awkward humming/squeel like noise.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It happens when I have the gas pedal held in the same position. As soon as I give it any more gas or let off of the gas any it stops. Does anyone know what would be causing this problem and what I would need to do to fix/correct it. And please let me know how knowledgeable you are as far as auto maintenance and repair goes. I would hate to spend all kinds of money to fix it and that not even be what the problem was. Please give me your input on this. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Nick

you need to replace your accelaration cable.the cable goes from your pedal to your trotle body.

Check the fan belt and the idler wheel on the belt. I suppose it could be the alternator or AC unit or maybe the water pump. Just guesses and there is not much information to go by.

Have someone work the throttle while you listen with the hood up. Keep your hands away from the engine though.
