Why does my car have issues filling up !!!?

Hey my car just started having this
problem like 2days ago I went to fill
my car up and it was on a 1/4 and as
I was filling it , it stopped like after a
dollar and kept doing it. I know it's
not cause it was full because it was
on a quarter and it wasn't the pump
because I went to another gas
station . My car is also using a lot
more gas than usual and my check
engine light is on .... Help please!! I
have a 05 Chevy cobalt
