Question type: Maintenance & Repair

3 years ago, in the winter, I hit some debris on the interstate, which damaged a tire and rim on the rear left tire.  Replace the wheel and tire.  noticed some noise afterwords.  Later on, on that same side, I ended up replacing a bearing/hub assembly and drum while doing the brakes.  It acted like something there was a sticky spot, in which the wheel would stop.  After replacing the items it was still there.  The problem is that the road noise and on some roads you can hear the vibration on the back side of the car.  I had the tires rotated and balance with no change.  Did I get a defective wheel bearing, or is there something else going on?

Could be your constant velocity joints have gone bad? How many miles on your car and has work ever been done on them?

It has 173000 miles and I haven't had to touch the constant velocity joints. Is there a simple test to see if it is them? How long do they usually last?

I did notice one other thing, when going down the road, when I turn to the right it gets quieter. But not effect when turning to the left.

Wow, if you've gone 173,000 miles without any problems until now, you have nothing to complain about. Take your car to your mechanic, they can inspect it and tell you exactly what's wrong. I still suspect the CV joints , but you're one lucky individual. It's not going to be that expensive anyway and look at the great service you're getting from your car!
