I have a toyota corrola 2004 model, recently while driving at speeds above 40mph I was hearing some growling sound other than the engine from the back of my car. the toyota dealership looked at the issue and they tell me its a problem with the rear wheel bearings and they estimated the charge would be about 670$..Is this a suitable charge for replacing wheel bearings or the charge is a bit too steep? has anybody gone through this issue before...your help will be really appreciated, Thanks

well, it isn't so bad figure $80 an hour for the mechanic, parts probably 100 a piece...so NO it is not a fair price...seek someone more steady with their prices. Have to recommend Tire Pros. check online to see thier nearest location to you.
Looked it up and $90 for entire wheel hub assembly, OK I was off on that but $90, mark up double by dealer $180, 2 hours at $80 per ....$340. BOTH rear bearings, well then that figure make sense

look all that pidgeon work you did! often I reflect on WE are the definative or last resort- so if it's available to us on the WWW we snap up the right info from the sea of chaos and post it. If the info exists out there (and if it doesn't you're probably on the wrong trail) it takes a certain knowledge of how to cut and past and post various tidbits to save the day!
thanks guys..I gotta second opinion from a local mechanic and he tells he can do it for 250$ including labor costs and parts so seems to be the dealership was charging a whole lot of money for nothing. Thanks for your help
