1992 toyota paseo ran great until I turned it off then water came gushing out

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I replaced engine coolant temperature sensor and temperature gauge
sending unit.
I started the car this morning.  It sounded and ran great.  I patted myself on
the back for a job well done.  Premature I would say because when I shut
the car off water came gushing out below the thermostat housing, couldn't
see exactly where.

Well, of course you need to repair the leak. I suspect you didn't purge the cooling system after the repair. If you take off the thermostat housing, may as well replace the thermostat. The cooling system needs to be purged from air whenever it is opened up. Here is how to purge the cooling system... www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUpXgAJ1gjU

Found the leak. It turned out to be the temperature gauge sending unit was not in tight enough! I saw the video prior to my posting the above message. I am not sure yet if my problems with the car are over yet or not. Surely by the end of today!
